Dubai 2016

Hi so after starting work for 3 weeks and reading tons of beauty stuff, I've decided to start blogging about the beauty shit that I came across.... after I finish blogging about my travel trips to Dubai and Taiwan LOL.

We took Emirates to Dubai and omg I think the visuals of Emirates' stewardess are damn high up. Or maybe it's their make up hmmmm. And yay had the whole row to myself yay. image

Reached Dubai at around 5+, waited for our luggage which took a while. Okay maybe not a while, it took forever. Cleared customs and bought tickets to the Atlantis Waterpark + the aquarium. I checked online and the airport booth offers a better and much more worth it package price. So, buy your tickets at the Airport!

Bought a one way train ticket which cost like SGD$1/2, to World Trade Center station. Oh they have a Women's only cabin and they're quite strict about it. They did ask some of the male angmoh's to leave the Women's cabin, like do they not know how to read English? The instructions were in English LOL.

Anyways so we didn't know which exit to go when we reached so we went to the wrong exit after asking the policemen there. Like hello policemen what are you doing 🌚

So we dragged our luggage from the station to the other side of the road and realised it's not this exit; so we dragged our luggage all the way back to the station. And found out that the exit is just at the side of the station. Lame.

Reached our hotel did the check in and decided to wait for the shuttle bus service that the hotel provides to the outlet mall at around 7+. We stayed in Novotel which was located near World Trade Center Metro Station.

So when it was 7+, the bus came and the bus was already full. So we can't board the bus at all. We decided to have dinner nearby our hotel before taking the bus to the Dubai Mall. Meals in Dubai is 💸; super expensive.

We managed to get into the bus to Mall of the Emirates and woo the mall's huge. But because we wanted to catch the last bus back to our hotel, we only had like an hour in Mall of Emirates. So we went to the supermarket to get some drinks and snacks.

Which are expensive too btw. Had a hard time converting AED to SGD but it's okay need time to get used to. Super kiasu after not managing to get onto the bus for the first time so we're like waiting for the bus 10 mins before the departure time of the bus back to our hotel LOL.

Reached hotel and slept because the next day was Atlantis Waterpark Day WOOOOOOO.

Had breakfast in the hotel and asked the reception and they said to take the shuttle bus to Mall of Emirates (again) and then take a cab in from there, which is the easiest option. So we took the bus; yay we got on. And I we took a cab from Mall of Emirates into Atlantis, which is like their Sentosa. LOL

Their water park I would say it's quite big as compared to the water parks that I've been to. There's three main sections with different rides in each section, which is quite confusing actually LOL. So took the rides and took the 'Leap of Faith', which was high = fast and like the gravitational force is too much that my back hurts from scraping against the slide. image

And the ride was too fast, apparently you'll slide through the aquarium BUT HELLO SO FAST + WATER IN YOUR FACE SEE WHAT. LOL

The food sold inside was super expensive too, like what cup corn for $8 each?! Went to the aquarium and it was so small; I have no idea why did they recommend that it's worth a go. I rather pay for a better aquarium to go like the SEA aquarium and Ocean World's. Ocean World's aquarium was great but it was included in the entrance price woooo. And they had different aquarium around the whole theme park + dolphins. image

After that we had to cab back, which the cab Q was SUPER long. Waited for like an hour or so for the cab. There'll be people asking if you want a private cab which is like scamming your money cause the price they're charging is SUPER high. Cabbing in Dubai is not that expensive, especially if you're travelling in groups.

Honestly, I forgot if we cabbed back to the hotel or to a mall but I guess we're too tired so I think we cabbed back to our hotel.

Anyways, the next day we had breakfast and nua-ed in the hotel to wait for the desert safari tour to start. The pick up is supposed to be 2-2.30PM but when like the driver was late and I couldn't contact him. The car was supposed to have a Rayna Tours Logo but it didn't have, we only got onto the car at like what 3pm?! Waited a whole hour for the stupid car to arrive.

The car also stopped at some shop for them to deflate their tyres before the car get into the sand dunes. But actually its more for them to earn their commission or earn their cigg cause they kinda 'drive business to their shop' literally.

The ride on the dunes was fun and all but I think it should be longer but because our driver was the 'head of all the drivers' he was damn busy, I think he cut short our ride. image

And then after that he just like 'threw' us to the Village to explore on our own but hello nothing was open when we reached. So my sister and I went for the camel ride. OMG THEY HAVE THIS SMELL AND THEIR MOUTHS WERE TIED UP.
AND THE SEAT I WAS ON, THE CAMEL BEHIND ME, ITS MOUTH WAS ON MY LEG
OMG OMG OMG.
I was literally screaming through the whole journey cause omg it was horrible ya'll can try I'm never going to do it again bye.

It was super hot but it became more cooling when it was time for sunset. We decided to climb up the sand dune to catch the sunset (well except for my mom). And the sand was cool, not warm like the weather LOL. Literally sinking in sand every step sighs.

The dinner was okay, with barbecued food and their local food = I wasn't full even though it was a buffet dinner. Its okay, experience once can already. There's also belly dance performance, fire dance performance whatever not la hor.

So when everything ended, they just said to stay outside to wait for our driver. Win liao lor, we cannot even find him or his car anywhere at all. When we saw his car, he drove away from us. LIKE HELLO?! When we went to ask the crew, they said the car will be back. Okay lor can thanks.

The driver did came back but there was also another two ladies with us this time. So when the driver sent us out of the sand dunes, he drove back again. I was thinking like wa since when he became so nice, it was because one of the car broke down and he had to 'help' image

We spent like what 30 minutes waiting for him to be done with 'helping' his driver. Actually he didn't do shit he just go down and kaypoh only. Waste our time man. I don't know if its the whole tour company or maybe its just this driver, but the service we received was shit. Like legit. ps. We booked with Rayna tours.

The next day after breakfast we took the shuttle bus to Kite Beach. I know we're always taking the shuttle bus but hey must make use of the hotel facilitates. It was sooooooo hot at around 9am in the morning and there wasn't much shade and nothing to do. So we left in a cab (we managed to squeeze into one normal cab LOL) to the Dubai Mall. Hi another huge mall, and Burj Khalifa.

There's two main huge shopping malls in Dubai and it's Mall of Emirates with the indoor ski-ing facilities and Dubai Mall which is near Burj Khalifa.

Watched the fountain show and decided to have lunch in the mall before cabbing to the Outlet Mall that we wanted to go on the first day. I think cabbing in Dubai is relatively cheap for us as we had 5 of us so we mainly took the bigger cabs, which was easily available.

The stuff at Outlet Mall was cheap as expected for Outlet malls; and they had some huge arcade too. But shopping more important LOL. Had dinner at their foodcourt and cabbed back to our hotel. There was some argument going on in the carpark due to parking issues. We're half expecting them to come out their car and start a psychical fight LOL.

Last full day in Dubai was also the last day of 2016! After breakfast we bought a one day pass for the metro because it's gonna be hard grabbing a cab at night due to the countdown activities. We took the metro to a station where we'll be taking an abra (traditional boat) to the gold souk.

Gold souk was extensive; all the gold was just displayed out. And I wonder if people actually try to break into the shops there like literally you can access to all the gold in the market man. Walked around and took the metro to Dubai Mall for lunch and to shop.

After that we decided to go to Mall of Emirates to shop properly (LOL) but my dad went back to the hotel as he was already tired of walking. By then it was like 6PM+ but the metro crowd was terrible. And the amount of walking you have to do from the metro station to the Dubai Mall was like around a 1KM+ walk because they're getting ready for the countdown crowd + construction works going on.

Shopped at Mall of Emirates and got Juicy Couture accessories which was around SGD$40 wooooo. image
Tried to order Pizza Hut delivery for dinner but failed so my dad went down to takeaway pizza which was like $60+ for two pizzas. 💸

We also tried our very best to stay awake for the countdown but we're too tired so we just KO-ed till 2017. LOL So that's about it for Dubai. I guess you just have to head to Dubai once, which is enough and I don't find the need to go back there again; unless you want to shop. Their shopping is surprisingly cheap for brands. But their food and experiences such as theme park and the desert tours are expensive.

And whoever said you'll get to see super cars around, it's fake. Or maybe it's over at Abu Dubai but nope didn't see any super cars out there. And people there are quite rude, their service line is not up to standard at all. So, probably not see you soon Dubai.
